The need: real-time application visibility at the edge
The Graphiant Network Edge delivers the next-gen performance and agility needed in today’s dynamic and distributed hybrid world. It combines the performance and security of private MPLS networks with the agility and last-mile flexibility of SD-WAN enabling enterprises to build their networks faster and more efficiently. In order to build highly responsive, reliable and secure networks optimized for the application and traffic needs of different edge networks, Graphiant needed a partner to deliver real-time application visibility for their enterprise connectivity solution.
Cloud-optimized VPP DPI engine for superior performance
As a cloud-optimized module, R&S®vPACE leverages Intel DPDK and the open-source VPP stack to bring DPI processing speeds to the next level. The VPP DPI engine provides substantial performance and speed benefits for the dynamic distributed hybrid environments that Graphiant supports. Compared to scalar packet processing, R&S®vPACE’s powerful, VPP-based engine delivers up to 3 times speedup. This empowers Graphiant to meet the high performance needs of latency-sensitive, real-time applications in cloud and edge computing environments. It also comes with a memory footprint of less than 400 bytes per 5-tuple connection and 700 bytes per network endpoint. R&S®vPACE provides a single point of inspection for Graphiant to deliver application-aware traffic prioritization, steering and policy control at performance levels for the modern edge.

Next-generation enterprise connectivity equipped with DPI-driven intelligence
Through the deployment of R&S®vPACE, the edge computing service provider Graphiant is able to separate traffic flows based on applications and services and apply network and security policies appropriately in real time enabling next generation enterprise connectivity. Application-aware traffic management, such as the allocation of priority lanes for latency-sensitive applications, ensures that Graphiant's enterprise customers receive the best quality of service (QoS). By providing deep insights into suspicious and anomalous network traffic, the VPP DPI engine also makes it easier to identify malicious applications at the network edge. Enterprises can use the advantages of DPI-driven application classification to implement a zero-trust security framework.
R&S®vPACE creates a new level of traffic awareness for Graphiant that speeds up traffic analysis and allows real-time monitoring of application performance. With the given performance analytics, available for any node in the network edge, Graphiant can swiftly identify cloud or application issues and resolve them more quickly. By using predictive analytics, they can also identify new capacity and security requirements in the network edge — spanning enterprise, cloud and SaaS applications.
